Wandering Spirit
24”x 48” acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas, framed
This painting is the sister piece to “After Life”. In “After Life”, I explored themes of death and the forms our spirits take beyond this world. “Wandering Spirit”serves as a precursor to that concept.
This piece tells the story of an adolescent spirit that hasn’t fully departed but roams freely while the body sleeps. Unlike the spirits depicted in “After Life”, this one is vibrant and full of energy. It is still tethered to the living world with more to experience. It’s just taking a little trip.
The poppies in the foreground play a key role in this piece as well. I’ve always been drawn to this flower and its symbolism of remembrance. Here, they serve as markers, guiding the spirit back to remember its rightful body.
